This week, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Marie, our Business Support Manager, to learn more about her role at QST and what she enjoys doing in her personal time.

You’ve been with QST for 3 years now, why are you still here?

“I have been with QST for just over three years now and I love my job! Theres not many people I think who can say that! I’ve seen the company go through a lot of changes over the last few years and I feel proud to be part of that, that’s why I am still part of QST.”

What’s the best part of your job?

“The best part of my job is knowing that we are making a difference to people lives by improving their living conditions to the best of our ability. I don’t think I realised the Impact mould could have on your health until I started to work within the industry, so being able to see your work help people is a good thing. Its also a job that no two days are the same and I enjoy that. The days really do fly by!”

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

“I can see my Business Support Hub team growing as we take on more clients and offer more services. Perhaps instead of one big team it would be made up of individual teams, specialising in certain areas.  I have a lot of ideas!”

What makes your team run so smoothly?

“Well sometimes it may not run as smoothly as others! But that’s the good thing about my team. I’d say we are all very adaptable. We must be in this industry, things like time scales can change quickly, or if a client wants something a bit more specific, we will change and adapt to suit. We are always trialling different ways of working to figure out what works best. I have a great team; we all work together very well.”

What’s the best thing about coming into the office?

“The team! Our job can get stressful at times, but knowing we all support each other, have a laugh and enjoy a bit of banter makes things easier.”

What do you do in your spare time?

“I have 2 daughters aged 14 and 12, my partner also has 2 boys aged 14 and 10, so they keep us busy! When I get some time to myself, I enjoy going for walks and listening to Podcasts, going to bottomless brunches with my friends and singing on the Karaoke!”

If you could give younger you one piece of advice, what would you say?

“To be more confident in your own decisions and opinions and don’t care so much about what others think.”

What’s your favourite way to spend down time?

“Like most working Mums, I always seem to be on the go. So, I’m happy to spend down time not doing much! Binge watching shows, chilling out with the family and my dog Luna. She’s a Maltese.”

What advice would you give a new hire at the company?

“My advice would be to be a team player. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, as everyone does and enjoy it!”

If you could see one movie again for the first time, what would it be and why?

“La Bamba – it’s my all-time favourite film. I remember watching it for the first time when I was younger and just loving it. It’s a true story too, which I love to watch.”

If you had a talk show, what 3 guests would you invite on dead/or alive?

“Elvis—my grandmother, who I was very close to, loved him, and I grew up listening to his music. I think he would be fascinating to talk to.

Princess Diana—She had such a profound impact on the world, and I’d love to hear her stories.

Tom Hardy – No explanation needed!”

What are the top three items on your bucket list?

“Owning a motorhome to travel and make lasting memories, visiting the Maldives, and riding in a hot air balloon.”
