QST SEEKS EXPANSION WITH NEW MD AT THE HELM

QST APPOINTS MD CHRIS BLACKBURN

THE NEW Managing Director of a Yorkshire-based specialist mould eradication and cleansing firm says the current market offers multiple opportunities for expansion for the business – as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Chris Blackburn was speaking as he assumed his new role with QST (Quality Eradication Services Today Ltd) in Bradford to spearhead an exciting period of growth for the firm, which first opened its doors in August 2010.

The Bradford-based business has seen orders for its services increase in recent months, both for its mould removal services which uses specialist chemicals to ensure the problem does not return and also for its newer infection prevention and control service offering, known as Bio-Fogging.

Mould is now treated as a Category 1 Health issue, in line with Asbestos and Legionella. The recent Fitness for Human Habitation Act makes it mandatory for landlords, both public and private to deal with this issue. The business has also seen a significant demand increase for bio-fogging, as part of making all enclosed spaces safe from coronavirus and other known pathogens.

QST’s owners have now brought Blackburn into the business to drive an expansion programme in both service lines and geographical expansion across the UK – building on its strong existing client base across Yorkshire, the North West and North Wales which currently includes local authorities, Housing Associations and private customers.

Chris Blackburn joins QST having advised its management team on its recent appointment to the Northern Housing Consortium framework, its latest source of new work, and will bring experience from a career in business development and strategic advisory roles.

Chris Blackburn said: “I’m delighted to have joined QST having worked closely with the team previously and I think we have a fantastic opportunity to grow and provide our services to new clients and regions across the UK.

“We have significant and ambitious growth plans including a new service management system, website and marketing plans to expand our offering across the UK. I am extremely excited by the challenge and looking forward to working closely with the management team, inspectors and field engineers.”

QST’s CEO, Paul Meer, who set up the business 10 years ago, said; “We are excited to bring Chris on board and he has already made a great start.

“QST has an excellent reputation for our work across the last 10 years and regularly gets fantastic client and tenant feedback. I look forward to supporting Chris and the rest of the management team on pushing the company forward.”
